A Message from our Founder
We are in the midst of an addiction epidemic that is claiming too many lives.
Unfortunately, the signs of addiction can go unnoticed until crisis hits. I know first-hand what this feels like. I lost my brother to addiction and it is my mission, along with the entire LaurelCare team, to provide addiction treatment services that break the destructive cycle of addiction.
Addiction is personal and so is our treatment.
Because the causes of addiction are unique, we offer personalized addiction treatment plans as part of our evidence-based and holistic approach. Evidence-based means we provide treatments that have been clinically proven to work. Holistic means we incorporate other therapies to treat the whole person – mind, body and spirit.

Phil Tanner
CEO & Founder
Phil Tanner has combined his personal experience with addiction treatment, having lost a family member to substance abuse, with 15 years of executive healthcare experience to found LaurelCare. Tanner is also the owner and operator of a home health company that provides concierge personal care, assisted living placement and care advocacy services to the region’s aging population. Recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times in 2014 as a Healthcare Hero Award finalist, he also served as Director of Enterprise Strategy for Highmark Health, parent company of Highmark Insurance Company and Allegheny Health Network from 2013 to 2016.
Crystal Parish serves as the Vice President of Clinical Operations for LaurelCare. Crystal joins the LaurelCare team with over fifteen years of experience working in community-based and family-based services for adolescents and their families. Prior to coming to LaurelCare, Crystal worked for Pyramid Healthcare for three years, serving as the Program Director and National Clinical Liaison for Silvermist Recovery, a residential program in Butler, PA that primarily treats young adults with substance use disorders. Before working at Silvermist, Crystal spent seven years working as a therapist at Gateway Rehabilitation Center and four years as the clinical manager for multiple outpatient locations. While at Gateway, Crystal provided outpatient services for both adults and adolescents diagnosed with substance use disorders.
